Rare Skin Diseases



Our skin is the largest organ and the outer covering of our body that covers our muscles, ligaments, bones and our internal organs as well. No matter how some people take care of their skin, diseases just suddenly appear from simple acne to uncommon skin diseases which have great effects on person’s appearance. These skin diseases have different causes such as sensitivity to allergic substances while some are present at birth and are hereditary. Here are the lists of few of the rare skin diseases you could never imagine would happen to a human skin.

Argyria


Argyria also called Argyrosis is a skin condition which is due to prolonged exposure to a large amount of silver salts. The skin of people who are suffering from Argyria may develop into blue or bluish-gray color. This unusual skin condition could happen to those who work with silver in mining and manufacturing. Silver can treat some ailments that made Argyria also caused by silver compound ingestion. It is a permanent condition with no treatment as of now.

Harlequin Ichthyosis


Harlequin Ichthyosis is a severe genetic skin disorder in which the skin appears as a thick coat and separated by deep cracks turn out to be a fish-like appearance. The skin shed off more faster than normal individuals. Affected infants may have severe dehydration due to uncontrolled water and fluid loss. They also have trouble in breathing, moving and could not fight infection that may result for an infant to die few days after birth. Harlequin Ichthyosis can be cured with synthetic forms of Vitamin A called retinoids.

Morgellon’s Disease


Morgellon’s disease also called Morgellon’s Syndrome is the most recently identified strange disease in which people experience a delusional belief that they are infested with things like parasites, insects, and fibers or hairs but in reality there are no such things present. Symptoms include creepy-crawly sensation, persistent skin lesions, inability to concentrate and memory loss. People with Morgellon’s disease are recommended to see a doctor such as psychiatrist who can treat contributing symptoms to their conditions.



Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB) 


Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB) is an extremely rare skin disorder in which an individual fail to produce a single protein that plays a role in building collagen which is responsible in holding skin together. As a result, the skin becomes delicate that even a slightest touch, bump or scrape can result to sloughing off the skin and blisters. Aside from the skin, the mouth, intestines and the esophagus may also be affected by this skin condition.


These rare skin diseases are still mysteries to doctors and still looking for answer to cure them and even avoid then from the start.
